Policy & Planning Division
Mandate:
The Policy and Planning Division is responsible for the development of a policy and planning framework to aid the Department in realizing its mandate to bring about a system of local government that efficiently provides needed services throughout the province at a cost that is affordable to local taxpayers and without contributing unduly to demands for provincial government expenditures.

The division coordinates the development and administration of the Department's legislative responsibilities, and in consultation with the Department's Regional Offices, provides advice and guidance to municipalities and Local Service Districts on administration, policy and legislative matters.

 

Programs & Services: 
This Division is accountable for:

  Evaluation of departmental programs and formulation of policy directions.
  Advising on policy matters and coordinating and managing the Department’s Legislative Agenda.
  Compiling, reviewing and approving briefing material for the Minister and Executive.
  Compiling, coordinating and reviewing all Cabinet submissions.
  The effective development and coordination of departmental and corporate planning practices.
  Research and analysis of program and policy matters.
  Monitoring the internal and external operating environment and assessment of their impact on departmental policies and operations.
  Coordinating the development of the Department’s and Corporation’s Business Plans and Organizational Development Initiatives.
